Context

Rural care programs operate with limited resources while serving vulnerable populations that depend on home-based services.

What we do

In partnership with a rural municipality in Chile, we developed a hybrid simulation–optimization framework to support planning when transportation failures occur. The model dynamically prioritizes caregiving visits using operational and social criteria such as caregiver burden, geography, and service history.

Why it matters

The project offers one of the first operational tools designed to support equitable home-care delivery under real-world constraints.
